Frequently Asked Questions

Does the heat spread evenly through the shoe?
The spread of heat depends on where your shoe is positioned in the forge. It should be right in the middle so that the heat spreads evenly through it

What is the difference between "normal" hardness and "titadur"?
Two materials are available to you. "Normal" hardness for all disciplines where wear is not excessive (sports horses) and "titadur" hardness recommended for endurance horses where the shoes become prematurely worn. It is therefore important to take account of certain factors like type of ground, the weight of the horse and the distance to be covered to decide the right choice of material.

Can ACR shoes be worked cold?
Yes both cold and hot. Please see the information available under "advice".

How long does it take to heat an ACR shoe?
Two factors must be taken into account: - The temperature of the forge: in a hot forge count 20 to 25 seconds then check the temperature. - The thickness of the shoe means the heating time will vary from 8 to 15 seconds.
